¿What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Piracetam?

Do not take this solution if you have ever had a serious liver or kidney condition, you have ever experienced a brain haemorrhage, you are allergic to any of the ingredients, or if you are under 16 years of age. As there is little information on the effects of Piracetam during pregnancy it is recommended that anywoman who is taking this medicine should take precautions to avoid becoming pregnant by using a recognised contraceptive device or method. If you plan to become pregnant, or if you could be pregnant, you must consult your doctor immediately. Piracetam can cross into breast milk so ask your doctor’s advice before starting to breast feed. If your doctor has ever told you that you have a kidney or bleeding problem you should not take this medicine before asking their advice as it may be necessary to start you on a lower dose. As kidney problems occur more frequently with increasing age it may also be necessary for the doctor to reduce your dose if you are elderly.
